Summer Sangria Cocktails
☀️ It’s been a hot and humid summer in south this year, which definitely called for some refreshing sangria!
Sangria is an easy cocktail to make for a crowd with the added bonus of it being a make-ahead drink. It’s also super pretty with the bright red color and the fresh cut fruit!
This one is a little extra boozy and kind of a mix between regular sangria and a cocktail - Thanks to the added vodka and triple sec - Just leave them out if you prefer a more traditional sangria, but I found them to be a fun addition!
Recipe makes approx. 8 servings
Ingredients
1 bottle red wine (I used a Tempranillo, but any dry low-tannin wine would work)
1 cup cherry juice
½ cup orange juice (2 oranges)
1 can sparkling water (I used black cherry-flavored)
½ cup vodka
¼ cup tripe sec
2-4 tbsp simple syrup (make your own by melting 2 tbsp sugar in 2 tbsp hot water *)
1 orange
½ pint strawberries
Ice
Directions
To make the simple syrup, combine the sugar and water in a small pot over low-medium heat. Stir constantly until the sugar melts, then remove from heat and let cool completely.
Combine the red wine, cherry juice, orange juice, sparkling water, vodka, triple sec, and simple syrup. Mix, then refrigerate until cold. Add the cooled simple syrup and mix.
Cut the orange in half, then into 4 pieces. Wash, remove top leaves, then quarter the strawberries.
Add the fruit and ice to the sangria before serving. Enjoy!
