Chocolate Hazelnut Overnight Oats

Recipes that I can just mix up and forget about until it’s time to eat are really the best. That's just one reason that I love overnight oats!

For these oats, I was inspired by one of my favorite flavor combinations - chocolate and hazelnuts (does it really get any better?). They also only have a few ingredients and are naturally sweetened with banana.

I topped mine with dark chocolate chips, fresh hazelnuts, and sliced banana. Feel free to leave out the chocolate chips or replace with cacao nibs if you want to keep it free from any added sugars. Enjoy!

Recipe makes 1 serving

Ingredients

  • ½ cup milk (any)

  • ½ over-ripe banana

  • ½ tbsp (3g) cacao powder

  • Pinch of salt

  • ½ cup (40g) old-fashioned rolled oats, dry

  • 1 tbsp (12g) chia seeds

  • 2 tbsp (14g) hazelnuts, chopped

  • Toppings: hazelnuts, cacao nibs or chocolate chips, banana

Directions

  1. In a blender, combine milk, banana, cacao, and salt. Blend until smooth.

  2. Place the oats, chia seeds, and chopped hazelnuts in a jar and shake or mix to combine.

  3. Add the liquid mixture to the jar of dry ingredients and stir with a spoon. Give it a few stirs every minute or so for about 5 minutes (dry ingredients will settle at the bottom until they soak up some of the liquid), then refrigerate for a few hours to overnight.

  4. That’s it! Top with sliced banana, hazelnuts, cacao nibs, or chocolate chips.
